Face Oils have become incredibly popular in recent years and there are many reasons why. Using face oils limits exposure to chemicals, toxins and harsh treatment and it turns out the right oils are necessary to keep our skin healthy! The one thing we have feared for many years can actually transform our skin.

When oils are applied to the skin, they are absorbed directly into the top layers of the epidermis. That helps to create a healthy lipid barrier which prevents dehydration and helps retain skin moisture. It is possible to see immediate results from the first application but improvement to the skin is usually more noticeable after a month of use. Another huge benefit of oils is that you can use them without any added unnecessary ingredients such as preservatives so they are a great option for people with sensitive skin.
Creams, on the other hand, are mostly waxes and water, with a few oils added in. Waxes form an occlusive layer on the skin, which helps to hold moisture in. Creams will work at first because they will help hold moisture in initially however as time goes by, the wax creates a barrier which may prevent oils from delivering nutrients and essential fatty acids to the skin.

We recommend alternating between skin oils and creams as your skin can get used to one type and over time, the benefits of either are diminished.
