The Rash Relief Body Powder was originally developed as a natural, talc-free baby powder to help with nappy rash as we were unhappy with many of the commercial varieties available. After a while, we found, through customers of all ages, that it is useful in the treatment of a number of other skin issues so we decided to rename it. We have found it is excellent for preventing & healing heat rash, chaffing, nappy rash, shaving rash & foot odour.

It is common for baby powders and rash relief powders (as well as a number of other cosmetics) to contain an ingredient called talc. Talc is used to absorb moisture in the area and reduce friction which makes it useful in the treatment of rashes. Research is beginning to show, however, that there is a link between frequent talc use and cancer, in particular, lung and ovarian cancers. There are a number of other ingredient available which work just as well if not better than talc, however, they are more expensive which explains their limited use.

To use the Rash Relief Powder, simply sprinkle a small amount of the powder onto the affected area 3-4 times a day, preferably after bathing. Rashes such as heat rash and nappy rash should clear up within a couple of days.

To replace the talc in our Rash Relief Powder we use Australian ivory clay which is more effective at absorbing moisture than talc. It is the gentlest of all clays making it idea for use on children and sensitive skin.

We combine the Australian ivory clay with zeolite which is also extremely effective at absorbing moisture and is a powerful detoxifier, drawing out toxins which may affect the rash.

Sodium bicarbonate is used to alkalise the skin, and to neutralise odours. The high pH of sodium bicarbonate means that it prevents the growth of bacteria which is a common cause of many rashes.

Zinc oxide has anti-bacterial properties and is extremely soothing for the skin thus is useful when treating rashes as it helps to reduce the inflammation of the area.

There are two botanical extracts added into the Rash Relief Powder: allantoin and calendula. Allantoin is an extract derived from comfrey roots and leaves while calendula powder is made from the flowers of the Calendula plant. Both extracts are very soothing and healing on the skin, helping to heal the rash faster.

The Rash Relief Powder also contains a blend of essential oils designed to speed healing and reduce pain. The blend contains tea tree, rosemary and lavender essential oils. Tea tree oil is widely known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which means that it will help to alleviate rashes of bacterial and fungal origin. Rosemary oil is a natural pain reliever and is included in the blend to reduce the itching and stinging associated with many rashes. Lavender, like rosemary oil is a natural pain reliever, however, it also holds anti-bacterial properties and is very soothing to the skin.
